Im looking and there seems to be a few places selling fish online - how does this work? is it cruel?

if its all good then what in peoples opinions are the best ones for the uk?

Hiya,

I know a few people who've gone down this route as they are unable to source the fish they'd like in a local fish shop. Providing you pick a good seller than it shouldn't really cause a problem. The fish get bagged up with lots of oxygen and then are placed into a polystyrene box, lined wth some insulative material and then a heat pack is added. Sending them through a courier who specifically caters for delivery of live fish is the best way to go. Some people post via Royal Mail Special Delivery but this is actually against Royal Mail rules unless the fish are fry. Also, Royal Mail don't treat the boxes particularly gently.

In my opinion sending fish through the post/via courier isn't ideal but for some people it's the only option and provided that they are packagaged correctly and sent overnight then it's a viable option. Remember that fish are constantly being shipped into this country for our pleasure already!

A good supplier that I've heard mentioned a few times in Trimar :D

Take care,
Jo

I echo the above.

For many rare species it is the only course open! I have never had a problem with shipping fish.

Wildwoods is good, as is Wholesale Tropicals

These can both be found at http://www.tropicalfishfinder.co.uk/stores.asp

Trimar is also good: http://www.tropicalfish.org.uk/

http://www.tropicalfish4u.co.uk/ Also has a good reputation but generally has less interesting fish

And then there is always Ebay - However, common sense and PayPal is reccomended with this one.
