One Of My Halfbeaks Died! Why?

Well i woke up this morning to find that one of my halfbeaks had died...
I noticed yesterday, that my smallest, most nervious female was abit off, and she was hiding much more than usual. I had done a pretty big water change yestereday, or about 30%, and i fed everyone afterwards, but she didnt eat...
So i think it could have been either the change in water chemestry, lack of food or mal-nutrition.
Either way, shes gone, and it leaves me with two males and two females...
What do you think i chould do?
What do you think the cause is?

Sadly, halfbeaks do die easily. Never figured out why. Some folks say it is big changes in water chemistry that does it. Diet may be a factor: there's some anecdotal evidence that they eat a lot more plant matter in the wild than we tend to give them (stuff like pollen and algae). It's likely important that we at least add some algae-rich flake foods to their diet.

Provided the other fish are doing okay, I wouldn't be too concerned. They probably don't have a very long lifespan, either. I'm guessing around about 2-3 years. That's why its important to get them breeding, so you gave a "colony" rather than just one or two fishes.

Yeah i imagine that what it is. She was defineately the smallest and most nervious of them all, and i hope that the two dominant ones of the group will breed, its just a matter of time...
They have all got much bigger, except for that one female who died, and i have that 4g i can use for the offspring. I try to give them veg once or twice a week, and they do take it...

Just one of those things i guess...
