:-( One Of My Girls Has Dropsy

Im one of my girls suddenly has dropsy she was fine yesterday but now shes pineconed Hope the other girls are ok, ive ordered some anti bacterial meds just incase. Fingers crossed for the remaining girls. Theres not much hope for the poorly one

Why not use Maracyn2? Killing your betta is not a cure.

Neither is letting it rot to death . Dropsy is barely even curable at the very very very first stages and maracyn2 isn't going to help by the time she's pineconed

Maybe. He makes it sound like I havent researched the problem. I hate it when fishies get poorly especially when they have problems that you cant solve.

If you can't cure dropsy then why does Maracyn2 list dropsy as one of the diseases that the medication is used for on the label? When people get cancer does the doctor recommend they be killed because there is no cure? Maybe you should contact some LFS and see if they have any medication that treats gram negative bateria and internal bacteria infections?

People who dont' know much about fish are usually the people whos fish get sick then take the easy way out. It's just an excuse to go out and buy another "prettier" one. I've never had a betta die from getting sick. My bettas only get sick when I first get them, they never get sick thereafter with my care.

Dropsy isnt a disease!!! its a secondary symptom of internal bacterial infections, its very very very hard to treat it in the early stages sometimes it can be fixed but not often. Once the pineconing has happened there is usually kidney failure and its too late to reverse the damage. I have ordered some anti bacterial meds as already stated.

Would you rather die from organ failure or be euthanised before you are in too much pain and suffering?

Euthanising for dropsy is NOT the easy way out, its the best choice for the fish unles you want it to suffer! I havent even said I have euthanised her I said I might have to if she gets worse. Like I said dont reply to my posts in future.

Erm. I'm sure Zoe knows how to take care of their fish. Bragging about how you "nurse your fish back to heal" and how "how your bettas never get sick" isn't really neccesary. Maracyn has dropsy on the list because it can help cure it in the earliest of stages but once the fish is obtaining water salt baths are usually the only way to help them which won't even help that much by the time you realize the fish has dropsy. Euthanising is one of the easier roads out if you know your fish is suffering which is a wiser choice than to put all different kinds of medicines in a tank and like suffocating the fish to death instead.

I have had one die from shipping stress and this one is poorly. You said that dropsy was a disease it isnt dropsy is a symptom of a disease. I kindly asked you not to reply to my posts so please dont bother. You are very rude trying to insinuate that I have no idea about my fish or don't look after them.
