I would love one of these but would want to build a pond for them because the males can get around 3.5ft

Yeh man they are huge, people keep them with things like Pacus and Dovis.

Pond fish only, the Male's will average at 3ft (36") and the females around 26" but there was a guy on MFK who kept one in a pond that was over 3.5ft and to big to measure properly, he kept it with Emporer Cichlids, Dovis and used Midas as dithers! lol
