my platy gave birth last night but i didnt get to her in time and all the babies were eaten except one!! ive seperated it off but is there any chance of it surviving alone?

If it was the only one that wasn't eaten then it is the best of the bunch.

I had 2 platies in a small nano with the filter enclosed at the back.

He managed to squeeze into there and ate the spare food that got in there and is now beautiful Mr. Icklefish

P.S. sisters idea for the name

Any fry that make it through the first day or two are in good enough shape to just go on and on. Now it is up to you to give proper care. The hardest part about a single fry is figuring out how to not feed too much while still feeding generously. A single flake can easily put you across that line with only one fish.

the babies still alive on day three now, which is good but it doesn't seem very active it just hovers at the top or the bottom i think its quite scared. and your right i dont know how much to feed it, ive read that its meant to be six times a day but its so tiny that one mouthful looks like it would make it full!

A mouthful will indeed fill it up. If it is in a place where it feels secure, it will eventually start swimming around freely. If it has a constant therat from other fish, it will stay fairly still in one place and try to be less noticeable.
