I don't know if you've heard it yet, but nmonks has done a podcast on community fish, and a good one at that, and it seems like there are more on their way.

This made me think about a rugby forum I post on, on there is a special forum radio which is sometimes active with people either sharing their musical tastes or giving reports/live commentry on matches. I'm sure you've all guessed were i'm going with this, I was wondering if you think it would be a good idea/possibilty that TFF started their own radio broadcasts for the forums.

Let me know what you think.

lets see how we do with the newsletter first then well think about stuff like that :good:
who nows maybe the newsletter will end up being a published magazine

yes gathered by the time id finished reading your first post :D

I agree. If done well, I don't see why the newsletter couldn't eventually become a TFF magazine. SH

of course it could be years before it got published an it would cost a fortune to start up

Sorry to burst your bubbles but tink its all a bit of pipe dreams really i dont think you will ever be able to get a magazine off the ground i used to work for a magazine company and have very good friends who own mag companies and its so hard i dont think you will compete with whats already out there. The newsletter is going to be a hard enough thing to deal with to be honest i dont see it going very far it seems to have alot of kids woking for it which is great that there taking part but i dont see how a young lad can edit a profesional piece of litrature its not going to be very good quality and no im not shuuning peoples ages im just saying that there is alot of experiance and courses to be gained before jumping in and doing something like that i hope im wrong though and it does do well. But one thing all these people that seem to have tff newsletter team in there sig running round the forums like they top dog quieten down abit yeah!

To mark7616..my only comment to you is the same one my profs said to me in my training whenever anyone expressed doubt about success: " there is always room at the top for another excellent person".

1 how are we "running around like we own the place" go in to my profile (or any other newsletter staff for that matter) and click options->find users topics you will find other than the posts conserning the newsletter i have always answered questions the way i do so before you start shoutin you mouth off do some research. another thing i said it could become a magazine i didnt say it would as for the course thing im 16 yes young (and by the way young adult not kid) but whos to say im not going to college to study editing again the advatage of young people, plus no one said we are going to be the ones that carry it to magazine level did we so a bit of research careful reading and common sense go a long way before you go slagging of the newsletter team for "shouting their mouths off"

Smurfy,

I would be a little cautious of referring people to your profile if i were you.....

...a 120 litre (30 gallon) tank with 4 Clown Loaches, A RTBS and a Common Plec amoungst others does not, IMHO, point to someone with sufficient knowledge, dedication and research capabilites to write/edit articles for an online fish keeping magazine that is supposedly going to reach out to thousands of us.

If indeed you are going to state that your tank stats and profile are now out of date then it even more points to a lack of the most general housekeeping and updating of data. Not the best showing for an editor of a magazine.

I don't wish to start flaming thread. However I must say your retalitaive posts (both here and in Tropical Chit Chat) directed to mark7616 show a absolute lack of maturity. "Time for another rant me thinks...." is not a particularyl grown up attitude is it??

Having read some of your mot recent posts, I for one, will take any article written, edited, or in any way involved, with you personally with a pinch of salt.

steve.

The TFF Newsletter is still very new, and remains under construction for the moment. Any dreams of this becoming a magazine remains far-fetched to say the least, so i can certainly see where mark and keane are coming from.

That said, a little optimism and drive wouldn't hurt, now, would it? Also, despite several individual's ages, i still feel that all the members of the staff can contribute to one thing or another :D

P.T.

im not an editor anyway and my profile is there to be looked at my the clown loaches are little over an inch each and the common plec is now in a 390 liter tank the rtbs however is my fault and i take responcibilty for that but she seems happy for no and im hetting a bigger tank withing the next couple of months anyway you can take my posts or articles with anything you like though and i can assure you that the articles for the newsletter are top quality because they are checked over by two editors, the mods and then william if you dont like my advise dont take it

:D I'm an optimistic guy all round and the newsletter is no exception. I may not have had much input but I have been following all the threads closely. The age of the "newsletter team" makes no odds to me at all. I have the utmost respect for many guys/gals on here that are half my age or even less but have a vast array of knowledge for tropical fish. I wish everyone involved with the newsletter (smurfy included) all the best and hope it is a huge success :good: .

What did start to bother me was the tone/manner that was starting to develop in smurfy's posts and I felt obliged to point out that his apparent determinedness to prove his maturity was in fact showing off his lack of it.

Smurfy.....

your punctuation, grammar and spelling need some improvement! ;)

I have worked here in China as an editor - and regularly proof-read and re-write articles for local business magazines. I've also been a crewmember on WetWebMedia for a while... and have a few articles up my sleeve for the coming year.

If I can be of any help proofreading or advising on articles, make it known. I'm busy, but would be glad to help.

I work full-time in marketing, so even if I am too busy to do fine-toothed-comb proof-reading, I would be happy to provide advice.

IME, everyone (myself included) makes errors when writing, and an extra pair of eyes never hurts.

It could be advisable for the editors / writers to contact you then for advice over editing and writeing a magazine. You could be a mentor... :)

Hey steve I dont beleive you were watching football while bathing Keane :)
