as the title says really, my beautiful pink veiltail has just died with no warning :( water all fine

he wasnt small but not too huge, Ive had him about 2 months and no problems...

Not 100% sure but both my LFS won't take a betta till it's 16 - 18 weeks old

it depends where they are shipped from, where i work bettas range from 3months to even a year when they come to us as they are imported assortments (sadly almost always VT's and Combtails). Best way to tell i find is fin length and ventril size can be a good indication :good:

See, my LFS only gets Male VT's, they had a double tail in the other day and he looked sweet. The females all seem to be PKs with the odd VT in there.

I find male PK's in with our females ALL the time, seems i'm constantly seperating them, PKs are harder to judge with age as the ventrils and fins tend to stay smaller but the extention of the anal fin is another good indicator with PKs

Yeah, I picked out a good 14 males in with females (altogether making 24 bettas in a 40ltr tank). That LFS refused to do anything about it, even though the females were clearly stressed and the males on a bullying spree

But another LFS, the assist. Manager is kind of a betta junkie, so she is pretty good at sorting them out.

Haha sounds like me although i'm just a shop assistant, but i am the shops betta nut :D

BTW Sorry for your loss mewmew R.I.P
