okay, im freaking out. about four days ago, the lightbulb to my 5 gal betta tank burned out. i got a new one today. i put in the light bulb, and i thought i might pass out. aparently, in the last four days with no light, some crazy little wormy parasite things erupted in my tank. there is literally a cloud of them on the glass and floating at the top, theres none at the bottom. AAAHHHH. i dont see any on jimmy the betta, and he is acting normal, but there must be quadrillions of them. they look like dust, except for the moving part. i turned the light off again, and couldnt see them. HELP!! the parasites are about 1mm long, with some just being little dots or specs or smaller. basically 1mm at the longest. the little tiny ones swim a lot more than the bigger ones. they are white/ gray ( so small i cant tell)

soo umm water params:
Nitrate:10
nitrite:0
ph:7
temp: 80
ammonia : zip

everythings normal except for the aliens in my tank!!

i think i might just have to kill everything with bleach (except for jimmy), but how can i put jimmy back in the tank without being sure theres nothing on him?

can anyone help identify these parasites?

Probably Planaria worms(are they white and on the glass with little white puff things?), which are harmless. I actually had a little infestation in my betta tank a while ago and my betta would eat them.

Just tone down your feading and increase your water changes and they will go away.

okay good to know they wont hurt anything, i made a big water change though and vaccumed a bunch of them up, i made, like a 50% change. thats twice what i normally do... but, if its for the fish :p. i dont think its the feeding, because i only feed once a day, 4 or 5 betta pellets and a few worms or shrimp or someething. its rare that something falls to the bottom.

thatks for stopping me from freaking out :] i feel better
