OMG mycousin bred bettas in a

Well went to my cousins house yesterday, And he actually bred bettas in a 2 gallon tank, He just put the female in a cup with a lid, got her Horny, , I think but, Then he put the female in and the male betta started chasing her, Then they went under the bubblenest and started the mating thing, how did he do it,
