I am the Loach Queen...fear me, mortal!
Ok, good news and bad news here people.
Good News: I got my Pleco tank running. Yay!
Bad News: It's a friggin 10 gallon!!!!
Wanna know why?!?!? Well read on!
*sighs* So here's the story. I go into an lfs I'd never been to before with a friend, and I see that some kid had two Plecos and three small fish in a bag, ...ok so far. Well, then the little jerk sets the bag down behind some merchandise and covers them up, looks around to make sure no one's looking, and then runs out!!
I was like OMG I gotta save the fishies! So I ran over and grabbed them and went to find an employee who could put them back in their tanks. So I do, and the guy says "Those aren't our fish...I don't know where they came from." So by now, I'm kinda freaking out, there are now two Plecos that nobody wants, and then I hear the most horrible thing ever...the employee I was talking too, had gone over and asked his manager what he should do about the Plecos, and his manager just said, "We don't need them, they're probably diseased. Just flush them."
So, the employee comes over and tries to take the bag form me and I just flipped out.
There was no way that these little guys were getting flushed.
So I yelled at the employee, I yelled at the manager, and then I took the bag and walked right out.
Since most of my tanks are overstocked anyways (but overfiltration is our friend
), I had to do a lot of rearranging. I had a 10 gallon with 6 Mollies and a betta, so I moved the Mollies out, and moved the Plecos in. Unfortunately, my baby gibby is also starting to grow up, so I had to put him in the 29 gallon, and put the 3 Bristenoses (who were in the 29) into the 10 with the two new Plecos...all seems to be good so far, no fighting or anything.
I also found an extra piece of driftwood laying around, so I added that to the tank, so it's got two large pieces of driftwood, a small piece of slate, and a lot of plastic plants.
The three smaller fishies went into my 29 gallon.
...And more good news. The Plecos I rescued, were not commons or gibbys...one was a Clown and the other was a Tiger, both juveniles.
So at least they will all stay small. Thats one good thing about them all being in the 10 gallon, until I can get a bigger tank to move them into.
And the smaller fishies? Turns out they were Longfinned Danios! They are so gorgeous.
One is a Longfinned Zebra and the other two are Longfinned Blues. They are so tiny...probably only babies.
Sorry, this post was so long...I just had to tell you guys about my Pleco/Danio adventures. It's been quite a day.
