When I was in college i had a two very hardy betta fishies, a boy and a girl. they lived a long healthy betta life and passed away at a ripe old age of 2-3 years old.

I still have their food (betta pellets and dried blood worms) and I assume that this food will be safe to feed to my new betta (when I get him) since it's dried food... Are my assumptions wrong? I see no expiration date.

And as a side question, how much salt (fresh water fish salt) do you add to a 2.5 gallon tank to make it acceptable for a betta and two cory fish? (I also plan to have some limno-whatchama-call-it plants)

I dont think 2 cories will fit in there with the betta. It isnt necessary to use salt either, but some people like to.

How long have you had the food for? I have betta pellets and have to get rid of them in 6 months if I havent used them, thats what is says in the writing on label.

I bought new pellet but the old food is more than a year old. I don't remember seeing an expiration date or a "throw out after ____ months: and i can't check the label right now, all of the food is at work (where the tank is kept)

If you plan on keeping cories you can't keep salt in with them all the time anyway. It's debated a lot, but generally its accepted that they can tolerate a little bit on occasion (e.g. when treating for disease) but cannot tolerate salt continuously.
