Okay, Now What Tail Type Is She?

I want to know what tail type my new girl is. I got a few pictures. Sorry they aren't the best quality, and one you can't see her head (you only need to see her tail to identify tail type though, right?), she likes to dart around!!! Crazy fish!! And mind you, she's not flaring. When she was in the cup aclimating to the 10 gallon's water she was flaring and her tail span was bigger. These pictures are of her just swimming around, so it isn't as big as she can go.

I was told possible VT PK mix. And I've been told just PK. And I've also been told she looks like she's almost HM. But that was from the little video I had, not these pictures. I didn't know if maybe it would be easier to tell what she is with pictures.

Anyone who knows, PLEASE let me know. I hate calling her "unidentifed female betta" in my profile.

Looks like just a VT to me but when i first looked i was thinking HM so maybe someone else can give you some more help, also I think clearer pics of her whole body might help because you have to factor in the tail, anal fin and other fins and even their coloring can help.

Color wise, those pictures are very accurate. She maybe has a tad bit more red all over. But not much.

I will try to get a better picture after my daughter wakes up in about an hour and a half. But I might have to do a video or something because she doesn't hold still for anything. And I don't have a flash to make her show up better.

Thanks though. If anyone else has any ideas, I'd appriciate them. She looks almost identical to my other girl that I was told was PK but she's a lot bigger and her tail span is wider too.

Usually, veil girls have slightly longer tails than yours. also, the colouring looks like the colouring of a natural pk's

I go with PK too, very short fins. She's gorgeous

Going by the new pics, I'd have to agree on the PK label, as a VT's anal fin usually has a longer point to it. The colors match, the fins look right... as for her tail being bigger than your other PK, It could just be her parents had better finnage than your other female.

I got really lucky to get two PKs from Walmart in less than a months time. And the funny thing, that Walmart doesn't even have CTs yet.

Yea it was probably a dumb mix up at the fish farm they get the fish from. You lucked out, the other day I went in to walmart and saw a PK male that they thought was a female, since I dont have room or money to get it I told them what it was and told them to correctly label it and stuff, they did and I felt proud.
