My mum dont care. Im the only fish enthusiast in my house and my sister finds the biological side interesting and her work mates have kept bettas, and my brother thinks im crazy for caring bout them so much. But none really take note of the tank as its in my room.

Put your tank in your room, and they wont care about it!

show your mum you can be trustworthy with the tank you have follow the guidlines youve been given and then she may let you have a bigger tank

I mentioned this on the other post about the 2ft long tank - it's really not that big. I have one I got from Pets At Home in Edinburgh that I keep in my bedroom on top of my drawers.
It only cost me between £30-50 (it was about 2years ago so I can't remember the exact amount) and that was brand new...just shop around you'll be able to find something somewhere. If you've already got equipment from your other tank like heater/pump gravel etc then you could use it in the next one.
