Swiming in a pond. ...no, not really.
I'm getting a female (very pretty little girl at that), and I'm planning on breeding her with my male. Haku is healthy enough, and I know the basics of what happens, but beyond that... I'm not so sure. Help, por favor?

theres a welth of information i the FAQ pinned topic on the top of the betta forum regarding breeding and what you will need.

is it the male on your signature your breeding from? its not recomended you breed from VT namely coz there are already so many being bred, and no nearly enough demand for those being bred. if you would like to breed from him, id recomend getting a non-Veil Tail female, you will likely end up with a mixed bunch of fry but you will get less VT fry that way

you could end up with a 100 or more bettas that way....

honestly it is better to save your money and breed the best or better....because if for some reason you cant keep all the babies then there will be more demand for the higher quality and this possible insures a better life for your fish. I am not trying to sound like a jerk, or say your fish arnt as pretty as can be, but let me give you a non fish example.

my husband and I have 2 horses, a 18 year old QH and a 4 year old paint, we will someday be breeding the paint mare for a baby to replace the older horse when he someday dies. but we are going to save our money and breed her to the very best stud we can afford...because even though we plan on keeping and raising the baby as our next ridding horse....something could happen. my husband could get injured and loose his job, heck one of us could die and leave the other as a single parent and in that cause it would be unreasonable to keep 2 horses and raise kids on your own. and the simple fact is a higher quality animal has a better chance in life then a grade or only mediocor animal...both can be abused and mistreated by idiots, but truely if somebody is dishing out a higher price tag...thay are more likely to take care of what they bought.
