i have got rid of most my stocking

now what do i get i have done everything apart from malawi and marine

all ill have left is a pair of rotkeils and my ground crew

go malawi mate . its a much much nicer tank to sit back and watch with all the colour and activity . check out my journal in the african section . cheaper than marine too

Yeah give Malawi's a shot, stunning fish Malawi.

And give us a shout on the forum some time ;P we're missing you over there.

Malawi's ..... yawn, yawn, yawn.

I can sit and look at a picture if I want colour. Give me character anyday ! Although, each to his own, of course !

I'm assuming the tank is the 95 Gall in your profile. How about a pair of centrals ? A vieja species, or Amphilophus ?

the difference im finding so far is that the whole interactive thing is all well and good when youre near the tank working on it or feeding etc , but most of the time its nice to sit back watch a tank . and malawis make a much more attractive interesting tank to sit back relax and just watch .

Not for me though. I find that malawi's just don't do anything I find interesting to watch, and the colour is not enough for me. Personally, I far prefer watching a community of NW cichlids as the range of behaviour and interaction is just so much more varied than africans, in general.

chris dont do malawi mate i find them quite boring so if i do you certainly will

im sure we will get some ideas chucked at us on monday mate :hey:

Your just teasing, if you are going Monday where I think you are going you will have a tp swimming round that tank

tetras and guppies over here and most of the shops are rubbish. there are a couple i would buy from but i would rather go a bit further field to get quality fish and its an excuse to get out for the day

hmm i dont think malawi would be for me to be honest still have no idea though lol

how about finding a species you like and having a crack at breeding?

I have a mix of Centrals and Malawis in a hard water set up, i mix Yellow labs and Blue haps with Blood Parrots, Pink Cons and EBJD, had this set up for about a year works really well, very colourful and the Malawis are very interactive with both me and the other fish.

People say don't do it with Mbuna, i agree, labs are more Hap like anyway, i wouldnt mix just any Mbuna with centrals tho.

I even temporarily housed some Severums and Salvini in there (when i sold my 6ft tank i was left with the fish) and it worked for the time i had them.
