Ok All Done 1st Fishes In This Morning

Righty ho
Got my first fish this morning
6 platies (2 orange , 2 red ,2 rainbow)
still little confused regarding the amount of fish to start up with
is this enough fish to keep my ammonia and nitrite cycle going
if not should i add some more fish
or should i wait a week or so then add some more

I think 6 platy's is more than enough for now. The simple way of knowing when your ready for some more is to keep testing the water. When your Ammonia and Nitrite levels stay at 0... you'll be ready. If it's any less than a week I would still wait.

looks good - afraid I have no idea about the stocking though!

still think that shark looks funny as hell! although not as bad as the flourescent pink unicorn ornament my daughter wanted to put in my tank...

I know!!! but its better than the rainbow castle see saw today nearly had tears removing that from her hands..LOL

bless her! mine also wanted a rainbow with a pot of gold at the end of it. I told her that when she was old enough for her own fish tank she could put whatever she wanted in there, but in the meantime there would be no ugly #105### (obviously much nicer worded than that LOL) in my tank!

What can i expect my water stats to do
im going to test in the morning which will be abot 18hrs since putting fish in

I think the issue is that fishless cycling cycles your filter, but there are also other bacteria in the tank which process things other than ammonia and nitrite and these have yet to develop, so you need to keep an eye on the tank for a while.

If you went fishlss, I assume that you did, you can almost fully stock the tank the first day. Theonly issue would be if you had fish that were very sensitive to water quality.

did u finish the fishless cycle,if so then u can fully stock straight away,if u dont fully stock the bacteria u spent weeks growing will die off to a small colony do u wanna test ur stats get more fish in sooner rather than later IMO
