ok so far our tank has live rock, crabs and snails and live sand and some accidental coral.
Stats
temp:80 degrees F
Amonia: between 0 and .25
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 0
PH: 8.0
Specific Gravity: 1.021
All the sudden our water is looking a little oily in spots like you can see it moving through the water. You see it when you add new water flowing throughout the tank. The only thing we add is salt and prime. Has anyone ever heard of this.

When you change specific gravity through either adding fresh water to salted, or adding a very high concentration of salt to the tank, you see that funky thing. TBH, I'm not sure why but it goes away as the water mixes.

I think it might be caused by a little temperature difference, but like Ski said once the water mix it goes away.

yeh its probably just some salt.
