Afternoon all,

Just wanted some general advice, over the past few days our fluval edge seems to have developed something similar to an oil slick over the surface of the water. It's not too major and I'm thinking it might be to do with the oils in fish food? Is it anything to worry about? It's normally gone after our routine water changes but I was wondering if theres anything we can do to prevent it reoccuring? I have cleaned the filter sponge in tank water (tenderly as it's still a relatively new tank)but it doesn't seem to have helped much :S

Any help/advice greatly appreciated

Cheers Jay :)

I had this too, after reading people said it was due to not enough Water agitation, sure enough i turned the filter nozzle so it broke the water surface and no longer have the oil slick. This was the same for both tanks

Its harmless but if you dont want it just do as BB says and aggitate your water more - point yourt filter outlet to the surface.

Thanks for the replies, seeing as it's an Edge we can't change the direction of outflow so, we've dropped the level a little and increased the flow rate. Seems to have done the trick! Thanks again :)
