I have a female guppy called Pearl, and she is sorta old. She was fine when I went away, but I had some people come feed the fish, and when I came home she was lying on her side, hardly swimming. How can I save her?

Update-
She's lying on her side in my hospital tank in a U shape, pooing this white\clear thing. No other fish are affected.

1st off; a few questions.

What did they feed her? Find out how often they fed her. What fish share the tank with her (and are they behaving any differently)?

My platy had the white/clear poop problem but hes stopped now. I think it was due to a change in diet but I can't be entirely certain. Another possibility is internal parasites (but don't get alarmed, its only a possibility).

How old is she as well?

I didn't put her in a breeding box. They fed her what I always feed my fish (Flake food) She lives with guppies, platies, Khuli loaches, and white cloud mountain minnows. I'm glad for your help, but she passed away a few moments ago. Rest in Peace, Pearl Orchid.

I'm sorry to hear =/

In future just be really careful with entrusting your fish to others. They may have overfed her.

Good luck; hope the rest of your fish do grand =)

This was my parents who were taking care of her. If I can't trust my mo0m and dad, who can I trust?

You can trust them, just not when it comes it fish, its really hard to say but you know some people really get exited and over feed fish way to easily. My brother who is 26, i let him feed my fish when i was gone and he over fed them and when i came back my Oscar was on his side and i had to do 1/2 water change. It scared me sh!tless i thought he was gonna die and since then i only feed my fish and if i have to go out of town they can go with out food for some time, just like out in the wild they don't eat every day.

I'm going away for 2 weeks. Should I trust my cousin to follow my WRITTEN instructions, or should i buy a couple of weekend feeders?
