My male betta splendens VT Blueberry was in a tank with a panda cory (both being treated for fin rot) - the panda cory died a couple of days ago, so thought i'd try the betta in the community tank. Its quite heavily planted in half of the tank, so thought he'd be fine. Well, he was. Til i realised the filter housing had come away a bit from the tank side, and he'd managed to wedge himself in there. So i pulled it away from the side and instead of swimming out he swam into the filter housing through a hole which is meant for the filter output pipe when on the opposite side. Well i was just trying to move the filter (couldnt reach, too short) when i heard a noise, then saw lots of blue fins flying around in the tank. I immediately turned off the filter (i dont know why i didnt before,i just didnt think  ) - got my partner to tip over the filter and he floated out. Gone already, not breathing. His body was untouched, just almost all his fins were off. :-(
Obviously i removed him and made sure he was gone. Poor little guy. I feel awful :-( :-( :rip:

it will be okay, he is atleast in a better place and is out of pain :D

and i am very sorry to hear about that :/

That's awful, must have been horrible for you. It sounds like it was quick though.

Its never easy. but dont beat yourself up about it, he was lucky to even have someone who really cared for him  :rip:

This sort of thing happens. I understand that you'd be feeling pretty terrible.
Sorry to hear about your loss.
