Hi everyone, my bettas have finished breeding yesterday, and there are many eggs... at least i think there are. Well since last night, the bubble nest has been getting smaller. I have noticed that in the morning, when i wake up, there is barely any bubbles left... It has gotten to the point where there are basically no bubbles left, and he is just spitting eggs onto the surface of just plain old water. I dont know how many eggs must be in the little remainder of bubbles left, but im assuming that he has packed lots of eggs in that one spot...

Why is he doing this?!? Why can't he ever keep up with his nest? Will the eggs be able to hatch and will the fry be abnle to live through this with just a little tiny nest? (the nest is literally the size of a fingernail!!)

try leaving the light on for night time.. i found this a problem when it come to morning!

True!! the light must be left on whilst he is nursing the eggs, he cant work hard if he cant see what he's doing. it is common that the male will allow the bubblenest to get smaller as some of the eggs are apparently infertile. he may also move them into floating plants etc until they hatch, if fertile and he is putting them near the surface in the little bubbles that are left then they will hatch so dont panic, betta breeding isnt as set in stone as much as many people think, things can vary according to the betta
