Oh No!

Well Just as I thought it was going all ok, my heater gave up the ghost in my males tank. It's a good thing I caught it when it did because it was trying to boil the poor guy and he's going through conditioning.

Now unfortunatly (because of work) I can't go out and get a replacement heater until the weekend. (I've already tried in the pet shops in the town, but the smallest heaters they do are 200W...200W do you expect the average beginner to have a 200L tank??!?! To which both shops admitted they hadn't sold any and had requests for smaller heaters... all I can say is "wow they must have been dense when ordering their stock)

So anyway, I have to wait until the weekend to travel to my LFS (god bless em, if I want something they'll have it. If not they'll order it and give me a phone when it arrives) to get a heater.

Now my questions are, will he be ok and will I have to stop letting him see the girls?

The tank stays at 23*C without the heater, and I usually let him see the girls for about 15mins a day.

hmm seeing as I'm at it, should I be letting him see the girls for more than 15mins a day for conditioning? (bearing in mind the girls tease him by showing vertical bars and "dancing" and then swimming away to leave looking around with the expression of "where'd all the sexy girls go " )

provided the temprature dont fluctuate alot during this time..23 should be ok until you get him a heater.
its trial and error as to how you condition them but id keep them in full view of each other all the time and them keep them apart out of sight for mabey a few days before you are intending to start the breeding, then put them in the devided tank or put her in her vase or what ever for a few days to let them get reaquainted.. works well for me

Thankyou well I've sent my gf to go get a heater today and I'll see what happens when I let my male betta see the girls for couple of days.
