Argh my fav male Cobolt has popeye! I got home from work yesterday to find him with it! He was fine when I left for work! I cant believe this....... He's still alive this morning and seems to still be quite perky when I go past his tank otherwise he sits at the bottom!

I gave him a salt bath last night and added some Meth blue to his tank this morning as that is all I have! Hopefully he will pass away peacefully but if he looks like he is suffering too much I think I'll have to euthanise him as I dont like to see them suffer!

Is there anything else I can do for him in the meantime?

Oh too bad! Hope he's doing better? I've heard more of these sets of circumstances lately......I think some of them we buy aren't bred in the best of places. Hope all goes well.

personally I would put a towel over his tank and then peek in there every once in a while to see if he has gone, that way you dont have to see him suffer and it will be more calming in the dark for him. Sorry about your little guy.

Well so far he is still alive and his eye is looking less swollen each day! Although its hard to tell with the Meth blue! i serisouly thought he'd have passed on by now but he is fighting it. He has even been attempting to build a bubble nest !

:/ ah bless him I hope he will be ok. I have got a ranchu with swim bladder/dropsy he is in a bowl with an air stone in the middle bedroom. I keep hoping he will fade away but sometimes they hang on.

Keep my fingers crossed for your boy! :*

Thanks Happyannie! I hadnt really checked on him properly until last night! I'd just been feeding him and leaving him be! I couldnt believe my eyes when I saw that his eye was back to normal!

Thanks! But I do have some bad news my other male Gabriel has died! No idea what he died from as he had been fine! It's strange how the one you think you'll lose is the one who stays and puts up a fight!

:rip: Gabriel! Have fun in your new fishy heaven!

Gabrial could've just been old, I find that when they die of old age you can feed them and they'll be perfectly fine and eat and everything and then you get home later and they are belly up. I'm sorry to hear he went but I'm sure he had the best care.
