I just found new copper boy had somehow crossed the divider and was fighting with my little cambodian delta tail

Has anybody else ever had a betta cross a divider??? Im not sure what to do now apart from fix the divider...The cambodian looks like he got the worst of it so I should maybe do a good water change and add some salt

Did he jump over? If so just lower the water level so they cant jump it! XD

If the actual divider is broken then I have no idea how to fix it =/

that happend to me like 2 weeks ago, Oscar escaped into Spikeys section.
Make sure you silicon the dividers onto the tank securely. If they are hurt, its best to dose the tank with aquarium salt and do daily water changes to heal and improve the growth of fins. The salt will also help keep the water sterile so no chance of infections.

sorry to hear but with clean water he should heal up nicly.
one of my males jumped the divider but into a pair of apisto he got riped to shreds but healled up nicely in the end.

mine have jumped the divider more times than i can shake a stick at! no matter how many times i sort it out it just happens =[

just clean water will heal them nicely as well as some salt

no need to panic. this has hapened to me. glad you were able to sort it out quickly beforer things took a bad turn.
check the divider for ANY gaps..even ones you would think are too small to get thru. bettas are great at wriggling thru very small openeings. also make sure it is burried in the substrate a bit to cut them off from the bottom.
to help their fins heal. NO meds...just clean clean water!!! keep an eye out for anything sinister over the next few days on the damaged areas.
they will regrow their fins. really BAD damage may take a few months to fully grow back but the regrowth should start within a few days.

I dont think he jumped because the divider reaches up to the lid...Im trying to figure out how he did it because I've had these tanks divided for a few months with no problems....SOOOOO scary to see them fighting. They had there mouths clapsed together when I caught them

salt does not sterilize the water. it makes the environment (water) LESS habitable to bacteria nad funguses and viruses. certain beasties do have a tollerance for salt. it just makes it LESS likely that there will be a problem.
i would personally go down the clean water and NO meds route. especially if you have two otherwise healthy fish! no risk of adding too much salt that way, which could be bad. especially given this is not a finrot case...it is injury!
food soaked in garlic may help to boost their immune system, but that is about as much "meds" as id use in this case.

thanks everyone... I will change out the water right now and add some salt and also fix whatever caused him to sneak through the divider. Water changes every other day untill they are healed

actually, the copper boy could benefit from those bloodworms...the protein would be good for growth! better nutirtion=faster healing/growth.
i was mad too when it happened to me. mostly at myself. the fish are gonna do what they do given the chance.

They both seem to be fine other than the tattered n torn fins which thankfully will grow back in time... They gobbeled down their breakfast and the copper boy is flareing around like a mad man thinking he is so powerful now after pulling that stunt.

OMG this fish is WILD!!!! After sneaking by the divider twice this morning, now, since I've fixed that he is going around jumping around like a mad man and zoom flaring around. I'm afraid he will jump over the divider....I had to cut it down a bit in order to fix it. Im going to try to construct a new top for it tomarrow and hopefully I can figure out something for tonight

He is like a little toddler that does all the things he can to get on your nerves. I've never had a fish mis behave this much...hes lucky hes cute lol

By the way I've named him Houdini, after the escape artist heheheh

at work we have a system which is filtered and made up of 2 rows of 6 cubes, each with foam in between them so that they couldnt see each other, but one night one came dislodged and a marble hmpk could see a vt and jumped into his cube =[

the hmpk had not a scratch on him, whereas the vt was shredded completely! his fins were all over the bottom with only a few stumps left =[

anyways!

the moral of this story is that a few months on he has completely healed, and you would never know the difference!

so he will once be his beautiful self again!

Oh my I can't imagine what damage could be done if they we're left together all night...Poor Veiltail was probably soso terrified

I consider Pandora and myself lucky that I was at home and just decided to come into the room where they are for no reason. I was on the phone with the government and hung up as soon as I saw them with there mouths clenched together. I think I had a mini heart attack.

Houdini is proving himself to be a huge brat already and its only been 2 days. Hopefully he smartens up.
