Oh Dear God Why?

Ack I'm fustrated beyond comparision... I've been looking to do a tank upgrade to at least a 55gal perferably a 70gal (somthing with length). And Winnipeg (if you've ever been here) it the market to buy cheep good used stuff. There is a weekly paper that comes out called the Buy and Sell which listed Used and New items for sale by the locals. The first time I picked one up there was a 100 gal aquarium everything included canaster fliter plant lights stand and everything in between 100 bucks take away now. Called 5 mins after picking it up GONE sold already. The deals are that good usually but there are always a few sersiously over priced people selling neons for 5 bucks (ain't that a great deal ). But I've been watching the ads for more than a month now trying to be the first person to call but in the past two weeks the only big deal have been for aquariums under 40gals.

Now this week I forgot to buy the paper... and I've never kicked myself in the ass so hard until I saw the old flyers today sitting in my university lounge.
It reads:

Want to get rid of right away 2 135gal aquariums everything included plus stands for both. You move you carry! Both for $200. New baby on the way and I need the room.

I was tempted to cry.... I called up the guy "just in case" and he said that they phoned at 8am the day the paper came out. I needed to get this out to other fish lovers since neither my parents boyfriend or close friends don't understand me hitting my head against the wall. Here is hoping that once in a million deal comes around again in my life time.

all i can say is i bet you are gutted to pass up a deal like that!

I wish anything close to that kind of deal would show up around here.

I always see deals on the uk sites for aquarium stuff. If your using outlook then look up newsgroups for you area of the uk and you'll find tones of buy and sells thingies.

i'm a completely broke uni student so all i can do is sit and drool over all the tank deals that i cant' afford

Don't beat yourself up too much. It was a good deal, but there will be others. As with everything in this hobby, patience is rewarded.

Acually i wouldnt, buy a used tank from anyone unless i no who the person very well. first of all you have no idea how it was set up, it could have been so unlevel that when you fill it with it will burst to pieces, and second, you dont know the history of the tank (this one isnt as important) like if rocks where dropped inside it or anythign like that.

well I don't really ahve the option to by a new tank as they run in the 1500 for a 55 gal. But we have a deal here, where if someone runs into a problem they usually give thier money back. Most fish keepers are desent people especially thoses that have invest a good deal of time into it. Do people really screw you like that in business transactions where you are? It's great to say what it the best thing to do but I've made do with what I have. And honestly if I had the money to spend on a new tank I'd put it towards my third year of university.

With a tank that big you can see when the glass is stressed so all you really have to worry about is leaks which are easy to fix (relatively). Also 1500 CAD is way to much for a 55 Gallon you could drive to Alaska Buy one for 250 USD and drive back for that price

That's the going price at petland and a few aquarium shops if I was going to buy new I was planning on taking a trip either to the next province or downsouth across the board. I personally thought it was bloody nuts but apparently people are willing pay it. Walmart sells a 50 gal for 300 but they are ALWAYS sold out I've talked to quite a few people in the fish department about it and they said there is a problem at the distrubition office and they haven't had them in the store for at least 6months and before that they only got two in.

Well... look on the bright side.

All this means is the one you finally get will cause someone else as much frustration as you are in

I was complaing to my boyfriend the other day that there is some person in winnipeg that's soul pupose is to sell possible fish tanks and fish finds from me. And one day I'm going to meet him in a dark aile and kick him in the rear a few good times.
