Since moving some Oscars out of my garage, I've been wanting to move the pond that I kept them in as well, but since there were 4 convicts in there as well, & the one pair had eggs,.... I decided to let them be... (although I need more convicts like a hole in the head)....

I was so pleased yesterday when I saw they actually devoured their free swimming fry. Since I was spring cleaning my garage, This 3ft x 4ft x 3ft deep pond had to go.... It was only after I emptied it, that I realised the other pair had also laid eggs.... Well to cut a short story long.... The eggs were by then already exposed to the dry outside world, & I just moved the convict to new quarters with about 400 other convicts.

In this crowd, I noticed the would be parents actually found each other and was looking around frantically for their lost eggs...... Shame!! ... sad story seeing them.

you're a baby fish killer :)

serial killer, quick somebody call the police.

it happens, the pair will settle down and get back to business I am sure

Is it guilty until proved innocent, or is it not innocent until proven guilty??...

depends on which country you are in. But if there isn't a body there isn't a crime

It is sad, but if I had 400 plus convicts I would have to cull all of the newly hatched fry. BTW, if you don't mind me asking, what do you do with all of these fish? Do you supply or is it for your on pleasure?

I would love to be able to keep a garage full of fish.

JB... it is out of control.... I do not have a market for them, & they just multiply.... I'm bursting at the seams, & hope for an outcome before I'm compelled to start frying fish for breakfast.....

Lol, well at least they are happy enough to give you babies. Convicts are a hardy fish and seem happy under the worst conditions. Mine bred in a 20 gallon tank with 1 oscar, 1 blood parrot and 8 other convicts (I was doing a substrate change in their 100 gallon at the time). The thing was, they were only in there for about 30 minutes before they laid eggs.

JB... They are not my only concern... Even my Blue Gouramies are continueing to reproduce in a community of over 1000 of them.... Guppies, mollies and Platies are each increasing their numbers by at least 50 per day.... I have only 4 Oscars to feed.... They cannot handle it alone.

Ahh, you are in over your head eh. You could try donating them to someone that is willing to take them. How are you chocolate gouramis doing?

I have not been able to secure even one pair of Chocolates in the past 20 years.... So if you hear of any.... I'd like about (at least 10 of those)....

For the rest of them.... I've even donated to the schools is the area for disection in Biology projects..... Just no takers, (let alone buyers)
