ive just stripped down my shrimp tank and transferred all my shrimps to my aqua one 320. after they were transfered and i was draining down the water i noticed there were hundreds of tiny white swiming things in the tank. they were about the size of a pin head. i only noticed them because of the sheer numbers..............

now have i just flushed hundreds of baby amano's or cherries down the drain???

Were they long and wormlike? Or just small specks?

Worms could be nematodes or planaria, specks could be an number of small invertebrate, such as daphnia or freshwater copepods or seed shrimp.

Cherry shrimplets are usually large enough to be recognizable as shrimp, and the Amano larvae would have died anyway.

i had long thin wormy things as well but the swimmy things were just tiny specks

very scientificaly put considering my other posts in the scientific section :hyper:

Did they look like this?

I pour out thousands of Amano zoes all the time doing water changes. The females are forever carrying eggs. Feel like such a waste but then there's not a lot I can do with the zoes :/

You can see some superb macro pictures of some of the other little aquarium critters in Liam's post.
