Well my heavily pregnant platys both have red, bloodish type marks around their head. Is this a normal part of their pregnancy, what should i do???????????????? PLEASE HELP. ARE THEY CLOSE TO RELEASING THE FRY?

I wouldn't say it was normal, have any one been picking at them, or injured them selves on something.

no water stats but the male platy has been picking on them quite a bit lately. i think im going to put the pregnant fish in a net breeder.

I would recommend a water change, and get your water tested, seem strange that two platys have the same mark in the same place, could be the male then.

yea i just finished a 30% water change. I will get my water tested soon though.

I would add two tablespoon of salt, good luck.

It may be a batcerial infection. I had one on a fish a couple weeks ago, and one fish died today. Wilder, what kind of salt were u talking about??

i was thinking septicemia but with two fish having it wasn't sure, can you tell us about the other fish, if a fish has septicemia it can release the bacteria into the tank.
Household salt is fine in small doses.

no i dont, im just gonna put 2 small tablespoons of salt. What is this helping though. Also I have a tank coming soon from my cousin, but it was going to be for the baby fry.

Salt acts like a general tonic. The usual dose is 1 tablespoon for 5 gallons, so you can actually add up to 12 tablespoons in your 60 gallon tank. Ideally, you should isolate sick fish to keep the illness from spreading around the tank, as well as help cut down on the cost of medicine.

If you could tell us about the other fish that died, it will help knowing what could be wrong with these fish now.

also i just realized when i look from the top at them, theyre eyes are a deep greenish color.
