I got a text this morning from my dad, saying one of his friends from work was getting rid of a tank. Apparently 48x15x12, definately with a hood, not sure what else, and a mention of a 'built in breeding tank'. Whatever that will be exactly I'm not sure. Anyhoo, the cost? Nada :D I have no idea whats its like, or whether the 15 is width or height, but hey, I can do with any tanks I can get. I have no idea what I'm going to do with it... Suggestions?

Good for you, OohFeeshy

I just love to hear about someone getting free stuff! There are tanks out there, it's just a matter of letting people know that they are wanted. If you hadn't let your dad know you were interested, he would not have mentioned it and the tank might have sat in a basement or garage for years.

How about getting some nice corys? :D

LOL no, he knows me too well and said yes before he'd let me know there was even a tank going free  Dad said he's picking it up when he picks mum up from work, so it should be home about 8 ish :)

How many gallons do you think it is? You should get some angels and about 6-12 black widow tetras. :hey:

nah, you should set-up a cold water in the conservatory. a nice, long and low tank like that would be awesome for a low sub-tropical river tank with large mossy rocks. put in some white-cloud mountain minnows, some hillstream loaches, and maybe some of those rhinogobius wui's or whatever they're called.

--EDIT--
and don't forget the marimo moss balls!!

Somehow, my friend keeps finding 15 or 20 gallon tanks, brand new on the side of the road. He's found 2 already, I'm getting that next one he finds. COol thing is is that it comes with pretty much everything. You just need to buy a filter and heater, it even had a few bags of gravel in it.

Heres a pic :) See the breeder boxy thing? I think I'll keep it.

Only 12" wide, but nvm. I'll go get me some vinegar tomorrow and give it a scrub. It'll stay in the conseravtory until I get me a standy racky thing built. Then.... I dunno.

Oh yeah, re the free tanks, you just need to look. Apparently theres loads over the tip, people are getting rid of them all the time.

Oh I get it they steal them from pet stores or whatever and then tell you they found them on the road. I promise I won't say anything ;)

In that pic it looks like the tank is up side down, shouldn't the wood part be on the bottom?

I think that would crack her hood... not to mention theres glass on the current bottom.

Ohhhh thats a hood. Well why doesn't it have a bottom wood trim, because all my tanks have a top and bottom black trim to it.
