Unfortunalty cant get the readings as i dont have a KH test kit and cant seem to locate one (not even in my LFS). However im using the mixture from this thread:

Daz,

A nice example of how much difference CO2 can make in a short space of time.
Dont forget to keep those fast growers trimmed. Trimming should help them to bush out and will stop them
blocking out light for the lower plants.

You can always replant the cuttings to form new plants !

I do intend to do this today and plant them in another tank. But now having seem what CO2 can do in a week and how healthy my plants look im going to have to get another unit for the other tank :)

Quality! Thats excellent work. Plants certainly look healthy. Whats the tank specs? Lighting, substrate, size, etc?

Nice looking tank :good:

I also have the Aquastart 500 and have the Nutrfain CO2 system running. Has been in there for around two weeks now and the plants are really flourishing.

Just out of curiosity, what substrate are you using as it looks alot finer than the gravel I have in my tank. Are you using the supplied UGF and if so how are you preventing the gravel from falling through the slots in the gravel tray.

In your first pic what is the L shaped pipe in the back/middle top of the tank?

Mr G - Whats the best way to trim the fast growing plants and to help them "bush out". I also have some of the same background plants in my tank that Daz has.

Tank is Aqua One (Start 500)

Capacity: 65 ltr
Dimensions: 50 W x 50 H x 30 D cm

Lighting is just PL lights that where supplied. 11 watts each so the tank has 22 watts of lighting. Substrate is PetsAtHme silca stand which is a nice darker brown colour. Choose this over sand as i think it looks nicer (tried sand in another tank). Havent got no 'special' substrate in the tank.

Im not using the undergravel filter as they are a bit dated so replaced with a Tetratec EX700 external canister filter. Thats what that L shapped pipe is as that returns the water to the tank. Decided against using the spray bar as the water coming out of it seemed to have too much pressure behind it.

Well that puts you at about 1.5WPG, about right for the plants you've got :)

Keep up the good work :good:

Notice a difference in the fast growers more than anything else. Looks good. What happend to the moss ball?

Thanks :good: . Il probably wake up tommorow and find all the plants dead now ive mentioned them

are they dead yet. lol

They survived the night and have cut down the long plants and then replanted them in a spare space. Next cuttings will be off to my other tank.

Thanks. Moss ball has been rehomed into my coldwater tank. Will probably put it back soon though.

Nice tank...
I have set up my CO2 diffuser recently and it is working well in my tank too. :)
