Thanks Themuleous ....... I'll try adding the Bicarb when I do a new mix (tongiht) I think I got confused with 'buffering' in the fermentation containter and the tank :S My local water has good buffering capacity so I figured I wouldnt need it ... however in the small quantity of water in the container, I can understand why it might need something.

I had thought about using wine making yeast as it will tolerate higher alcohol levels.

I have some wine making kit at home and was thinking of trying to attach the fermentation jar (1 Uk gal) to
the CO2 line (instead of the Nutrafin container). If I'm going to be using fermentation to produce CO2, why not enjoy a few glasses of wine afterwards :drink:

A 1 gal jar would be about the equivalent of 2x2ltr bottles, so should be about right for a 130L tank if I'm looking to get my CO2 to about 25-30ppm.

you are brewing alcohol after all and we all know about the affects that substance can have

Ah, the joys of yeast fermentation. You pressurized boys don't know what your missing. :drink:

My water is moderately hard from the tap, so I really don't need to add the bicarbonate and I achieve 30ppm, but if your water is soft, then the bicarbonate is a good idea. I think the rule was if you tap KH is 3 or 4 or less, then add the bicarbonate. Try increasing the temperature of the water. I find that production has to be kick-started in the winter by increasing the temperature of the added water a little since the temperature in my apartment is much cooler.

Think they mean adding bicard to the reactor not to the tank, but a good point all the same.

i had a masterstroke on this front. cut the hose pretty short and place the cannister over where the light starter is inside your hood (if u have one disregard). they get hot and the heat is used to keep the co2 running.

i might have stated the obvious but i was chuffed :D

The reason why some of the supplied packets arent

sufficient is that the yeast only last about 6 mouths.

Thats a genious idea! and at night when the lights are off it'll prob cool down a bit too, slowing the process!

Will def give that a try!
