Number Of Neons....

So, in the beginning of September I bought 8 neons... there was bullying so by the end of the month I bought 8 more.... making that a total of 16. Shortly after that one got neon tetra disease and I euthanized it... making my total 15...

.... I have counted my neons for the first time since then... I just now counted them 6 times and I counted 16 every time.... is that possible that they managed to procreate and one grow to relative adult size without me ever seeing it

It's possible, but more likely that you got an extra one in the bag when you bought them.

Neons quite often spawn in community tanks, but the eggs rarely hatch, as they're light sensitive (as are the fry until the become free swimming).

I know for sure I have only 16 before I euthanized 1. I counted them in the bags before they went in as well as kept counting them all together for awhile because I was paranoid they'd die or be eaten.... so... I'm very very sure I had only 15 once I euthanized the one.

I wouldn't have thought my tank is all that ideal for neons to breed either. I have bright light and the acidity isn't exactly what I have read it ideal. How bizarre! I shall no doubt be counting them over and over today every time I go by!

Hah! I've gone and taken a photo and counted them in the photo to be EXTRA sure I'm not counting anyone twice and there are 16 for absolute sure now! LOL How funny.

I have been growing the floating plants lately... those things that look like little clovers... maybe that has helped? I would think, though, any eggs are not likely to survive my 4 pigs... I mean guppies.
