Hiya guys.

Some of you may of read i lost one of my platys last week :( She was a micky mouse so wanted to get something totally different to her.

Well i decided to get a pair of what was labled as "red coral platys" from a new LFS we went to.

They seem a lot shorter and fatter than my other platys and have a extra whispy bit of tail.

I have attaced a pic, is this some kind of cross breed? Ive never seen it before. Very pretty tho.

The body shape seems more ballon molly to me. The photo doesnt show body shape very well.

Any thoughts/comments would be great.

Thanks Guys

It looks very similar to a lyretail or crowntail Platy but I've never seen one exactly like this...very pretty.

wow neat, here is also a high fin coral platy similor to yours :D

After doing a little research, I have decided that what you have is a pintail Platy as in the pic that Omega posted (minus the hi-fin).

Yes it a pin tail and these fish do breed true they not just a freak.

cool!

Thanks for that guys!

They are a lovely pair.

Is it going to cause any fry probs if they get a little " bum chicka woa wow" with my normal platys?

They may not all end up with that lovely pin tail but I don't think that it should cause any problems.
