I think either Jack was doomed from the day I got him or I've been overreacting. I went at looked at diseases on bettatalk.com but couldnt find what i needed.

Here's what he has this time...

~Single white spot on his fin
~Two tiny white spots on his head
~Has a bloated belly
~It took him a while to start acting like himself after I 'disturbed' his 'rest'....

I fed him one frozen blood worm today, that he actually kept down. I hadnt fed him for two days, so I could keep the ammonia levels down. I cant really tell if he's losing color, but it seems as though the red in his body is more noticeable than before. Of course, that could just be the lighting I have. I just have the tank light on and my room is dark.

I put some newish plants in yesterday. Basically I added onto the plants I already had. I wish I had a picture, but the camera I have is terrible at close up pictures.

Water stats:
Ammonia: 1ppm :grr:
Nitrate: .5ppm
Nitrite: 0ppm
pH: 7.4

My ammonia is out of control I know. I have been adding an ammonia neutralizer, and will soon do a switch over to bottled water.

can anyone help me out here? Thanks a bunch!!!

Alright, a little update on Jack.

~The spot on his fin looks now as though it's a hole.
~The spots on his head are more pronounced this morning. They look like two grains of sugar or table salt sitting right next to eachother, and it's raised above the skin....er....scales. They are above his right eye.
~Fins still arent getting better.

The temp of the tank is 80F and has been for a day or two. Previously it had been in the upper 80's.

Anyone able to help?

Sounds like white spot to me. It's a parasite infection and the spots are the larvae buried in his skin, when they break out they leave holes.

You will need to dose with a remedy from your lfs, follow instructions precisely.

That's the only thing I can think of, any one else got any ideas?

I agree with the previous poster that the spots you are seeing are probably ich. However I'm also concerned about the bloating. If you look down uptop, does his scales stick out like a pinecone? He may have a bacterial infection on top of the ich because of the hole in his tail (usually tail rot if it appears as a hole).

No he's not pineconing, so it's not dropsy so far. That is always the first thing I look for. I think the bloating went down. I feed him some pellets this morning. He's been acting normal all morning, which is good. I am going to my lfs today while i'm out. I dont know what to get, but I'll check for parasite remedies and get something for ich. I should have that anyways just in case.

Thanks
