my black balloon molly has the same symtoms too,
the werid part is if the water temp is 28C below the white stuff appears, but when the temp is 28C-30C (controled by a heater) the white stuff disappeares,
and when the heater is switched off the white stuff reappears.

Stress you need to keep the temp constant.

well I live in Malaysia, recently the suroundings temp goes up and down because of the frequent rain.

most probaly its due to the inconstant temp which leads to the sickness?
