use Sterazin to treat antibacterially and also wormer to treat all my tanks to be on the safe side? My cube tank is being treated with sterazin currently but now discovered a thin grey looking neon (could be old age) but wondering if to treat the 160 litre just in case?

Thank you!

Both the meds are for parasites.
Sterazin for flukes so it's a parasite med, Or did you mean myxazin by waterlife which is a bacterial med.

Does the neon flick and rub, dart, erratic swimm, excess mucas, laboured breathing, or gasping.
Fish can go thin in old age.
How does his red stripe area look.

I have sterazin and myaxzin..getting myself confused now  (yep hopeless)
He doesnt have any of those symptoms, just going grey/dull in colour and skinny belly..dont believe have seen him eat either..he is a poor picture

Ive got some other meds (believe no 9 another anti bacterial treatment). Would it be best to debacterial or deworm the tank? Sorry to be such a ditz cant think straight at the moment.

I don't like the look of the red stripe area. Plus going thin can be ntd.

Have you added any new neons to the tank lately.
How long have you had the neon.

Greyish film on fish can be parasites, bacterial, bad water quality.

Well water stats have been perfect over the last 2 days of testing (nitrite and ammonia 0 and nitrates around 5). I have had the neons since..September 2009, nothing has been added to the tank in a good long while..trying to think the last fish that went in  very long time ago. The tetras went in all together and are in a shoal of 10, no further ones have been added. Can NTD only be introduced by tetras or does it potentially withhold in them and develop with weakness? Understand that NTD is untreatable.

The tank has cories, glass catfish, pearl gouramis and bn, which product shall I treat with?

As always thanks for the immense help. Wondering if this is anything to do with the pygmies that kept dying and transferred somehow, even though sterilised and kept equipment to particualr tanks..

Some types of fish can get ntd.
How are the other neons in the tank.
The desease can be passed on by eating dead fish, and live foods. That's all I really know.

Do a search on ntd to see what you think.

You are right there no cure for ntd.

Hmmm having a look at google image the one does look like that, though the others dont show this symptom (just had a quick scrutinise but will need a proper look tomorrow as their bedtime). The ill one is isolated so to stop spores spreading and will do the weekly water change tomorrow in hopes of stopping anything furhter spreading.

Man I have had bad luck lately. Just read an indepth article..I did have that unpexplained death on that angel which could have passed it on to them..Im thinking perhaps to quarantine all the tetras though will look tomorrow and see the damage if any and not panic just yet.

Thanks for all the help.xx

I have had ntd about 5 years ago.I hope it not ntd, but we do need to rule it out.
it wiped the whole tank out.

Signs of ntd are.
Red stripe area will look bleached out, or litte round bleach marks on red stripe area.
Milky substance on red stripe area.
Blue area can turn a golden yellow.
Black linning around the red tail area.
Lumps that go to a point in the tummy region.
The neons will be restless and leave the shoal.
Odd swimming manor.
Bent spine.
Fish will go thin sometimes.
later stages, dropsy, and popeye.

Some of my neons would show different symtoms.

:( That is not good news hon, sorry to hear that you lost an entire tank! What other fish were there?

The one above has the skinness and colour patching. Here are some pics of my others:

The only thing I have noticed otherwise with a couple of others is that they are so much bigger but presumed these were egg ladened females. here is a bad pic of one.

They all seem to shoal well, including when the sick one was in there. No bent spines or lumps that I can see, and the rest are eating well.

Ok.
You will notice if its ntd over the next few weeks, as other fish start to show symtoms.
But the symtoms can vary from fish to fish.

Can you some pics of ntd.

Grey colouration can also be columnaris but a fish dosn't go skinny with columnaris. Unless the fish stops eating.

Can't find the pics now.

Just do a search on ntd pictures.

Thanks for that hon, will have to just keep an eye out. It sounds like the NTD. Just read up on columnaris and doesnt sound liek that fingers crossed. xx

They say ntd rare. But it's not that rare.

Keep fingers crossed for you.
Let me know how you get on if you don't mind.

Sorry forgot to say which fish I lost. I lost all the neons, black neon tetra's, harlequins, livebearers. I think. It's suprising how you forget.

Hey Wilder
Thanks so much for that, just going to check the lone neon now and have a careful look at the others, will update on them in a bit (Thank you xxx)
 Im really sorry to hear that...that sounds like a lot of beloved fish to lose... Thank you for sharing though

it was an awful time.
I was glued to the tank for a a least six weeks.
it can take a while to finish them all off.

I striped the tank down and steralised all the equipment, started again.

Oh hon so sorry to hear that, sounded a really drawn out unpleasant time :( Well literally just got in and jumped on pc, going to go check the tetra. Would it help if I did water changes every other day say to get rid of the potential spores floating around etc? I would say every day but that may stress the fish out too much.
