lost 10 fish today

i think this was after a water change and there was something wrong with my tap water.

i think i may have been able to save 5 out of 6 cories but i still dont know.

but frustrating, thats £25 gone down the drain, litterly!

Dont you test water params before just plonking a waterchange straight into the display tank
BigC

i think the water board flushed the pipes, with detergent, i know pippoodle lots circa 100 fish through this!!!

i lost a £30 pair of wild caught german blue rams, because of my heater failing and its not a nice feeling.

ring the water board and ask them, to inform you in future if they are flushing the system

ugh, i still remember when truck's ram died. :rip: ):
yeah, my fish were in baaad conditions. Ammonia reached 5ppm when I first started my 29g.
Then a few months later the heater breaks and the temp goes down to 60. (no fish died, though.)

:rip: ): You planning to rebuy those fishes? or are you gonna change your stocking?

water board said nothing has happened for over a year

i will change my stocking. now i have more experience and knowledge i will be getting some different fish

i tested the water at each stage and all readings were normal

yes and yes

i did 2 water changes over the last two days.

1 time was from a tap coming from a tank

2nd time was direct from the mains water

it had probably been sitting in the tank thus absorbing copper and other nasties. thats why you should always use the cold tap. and a 15% cold water change isnt going to hurt, i do it all the time as do many others

oh ok.

so never use hot water. just cold but only up to about 15%.

would a 15% water change a week be ok on a 60l tank?

I do 15% every 2 days so that there is regular supply of fresher water also my tank is slightly overstocked so I like to think my effort helps the excessive filtration I have in there as well.
