Not a common pleco...

Hello All,
I thought I had a common plecos... It turns out my 4 year old pleco that died recently   was a "sail fin" and I thought the pleco I have now is a "common" but he is light brown and dark brown camouflaged with black spots. Does anyone know what kind he is? His "true colors" didn't come out until recently because my tank pH, kH and gH were very high. Now it appears that because the water is more to his (and my other fishes) liking, he is happy and normal colored.

Difficult to say without a photograph. The best place to try and figure out which catfish you have is in the Planet Catfish Catalog.

Have a look at the one's there and see if you can find one close to yours.
