The aurora borealis is really putting on a show tonight way down here in Wyoming!

I'm very jealous!

Almost any time we might have an astronomical event we have cloud cover. We did get to see Sky Lab go by several years ago when BIL was visiting. Very low & in plain sight!

I've never seen them either, although I'm a bit south of you. I get up to Wyoming frequently but the nights are, well, pretty much like they are here. Except windier. And without the nasty brown haze.

I try to get shots of the Perseids every year. And every year it's the same thing. Weather forecast looking good! Should be a clear night! Cloud Map and Windy show all systems are go!
So I drive hours out to the middle of nowhere, set up my rig, and settle in to wait. Half an hour before the event the clouds roll in. Every. Single. Time.

Every time we get them around here, there is thick cloud cover. I've seen them, but not in any way that would impress. Through clouds, it doesn't work. But one of these days....

They've been more common around here recently. I think Zeus and Poseidon are getting along better and are experimenting with their new led aquarium lights they bought online. They get into the wine and the colour settings get kind of crazy.
