I got my first betta fish yesterday and it seems to be doing fine in my 10 gallon tank with 6 neon tetras. The betta however spends most of his time watching himself in the reflection of the glass tank. He is almost always flaring. Will he eventually stop doing this or how can i prevent him from seeing it? Alos i tried feeding him today and he wouldnt eat. The tetras r always on the bottom and have never noticed their food floating on top. What can i do to solve these problems? Thanks.

Simply give him time.

First, for the flaring, it's either there is something that gives off a reflection for himself (it really could be anything) or he's simply..flaring. Yes, it should go away with time.

For the feeding, he needs to get used to his environment first, so feeding is always an issue with new betta. Keep trying and always remove food out of the tank if it's uneaten. Remember, their stomach is the size of ONE of their eyes!
