He's not moving much and there's little tiny bubbles all over the sides of the tank and on the rocks at the bottom.

Is this normal? Is there anything I need to do?

Any help would be appreciated!

Well, I should have probably clarified a little. We got him at about 3 pm, put him in the new tank and immediately left for a cookout. Came back to a dark house and flicked on the lights and went right over to him. That's when I noticed the bubbles everywhere and that he wasn't really moving.

But a little later, with just a little light on, I peeked in at him and he was swimming all around. So maybe I just scared him?

I did some reading on here and found that they make bubble nests, but the bubbles are everywhere, on the sides, the bottom, the rocks, and floating on the top.

I guess I'll have to see if he's still alive tomorrow morning...

Did you recently set the tank up? If so-
1. Did you cycle it?
2. Did you dechlorinate it?
3. Did you finish cycling it?
4. Are your heater and filter working correctly?
5. Did you leave the beta in his container to float in the water for 15 min?
6. Were the lights off in his tank when you left?

my betta will rest for sometimes long periods at a time and then swim around for a while and then rest again. just make sure you are heating his water as cold temps make them a bit lethargic...a filter is also a must. and yay about the bubblenest. my boy hasnt made one in a while...i think hes getting lazy in his old age.
cheers

If you had put in fresh water, that could probably be the source. I think it's because there can be a lot of gas pockets in the water, which results in the bubbles on every surface. Tends to happen to me a lot when I don't crank the faucet all the way full. Nothing to worry about, just wave something over the bubbles to free them to the surface if the appearance bugs you too much.
