I've been keeping fish for over a year now and have 4 tanks.

I just don't have any experience with angelfish so i thought i'd ask.

I know angelfish are calmer cichlids except when spawning so would it be possible to put 1 or 2 angels in my 60 gallon 4'x1'x2' tank?

The current tank mates are:

a pair of bolivian rams
a rainbow shark
6 dwarf gourami

The tank is in the process of becoming heavily planted. Would any of these fish nip the fins of the angelfish?

In my experience they do better in groups. The rams would be fine with them, not sure about the others though.

D Gourami's should be fine as should the rams.... not sure on the shark, not familiar with them.

just to confirm (cos i always get measurements mixed up) the 1' is this the width or the depth of the tank.

as angels need a tank at least 18" deep cos they get very tall.

angel's aren't nescessarily calm, but they do tend to limit agression to they're own kind. It would maybe be better to keep a larger group to dissipate the agression between them. If you have just 2 and they don't get on one will get bullied.

sorry, the tank is 12 inches deep, 24 inches tall. If i get 3, do you think it would be better? The gourami stay mainly to the top of the tank, the shark is a little aggressive, but only when someone goes down near his cave. He only swims at the bottom of the tank.

As for his aggression, he is now about 4" and was bullied by my red devil when it was only 2".

angels are better as a pair and they need alot of open space so leave apart of your tanki open.

I believe the usual method with angel fish is to keep a group of juveniles and wait until two pair off- then rehome the rest.
