Would it be acceptable to use plants from the reptile section?

Generally, no, assuming you intend planting them submersed (under water completely).  And I would assume "reptile" plants would be terrestrial plants suited to dry conditions.  Terrestrial plants fully submerged tend to rot, some very quickly, others less rapidly, but they die and pollute the water sometimes terribly.  Plus they might have toxic substances that would harm or kill fish.

Plant leaves are designed for specific conditions, either air or water.  Even plants that can live in both worlds, such as many of the aquarium plants, will develop different types of leaves when moved from water to marsh and back again.

I believe the manufacturers usually say on the package not to use in an aquarium; I've seen this warning on reptile wood too.  It would depend upon their manufacture; objects placed under permanent water will often leech chemicals, colouring, etc, and these can easily and quickly poison fish and invertebrates.
