hi guys

just fitted my second penguin 350 and had to cut the intake pipe to fit it in, that things long, so put it all together and now it keeps making a noise like theres air in it, checked the housing and outlet (using a transformer as im in UK), still no joy,

filled the rear with water after emptying it and trying again

is it because i cut the intake pipe down it making the gargling noise

thanks

If it's gargling it might be pulling in air or not sealed enough to get the suction going. My older penguins used to take a little while to get going and I've had to prime but they're great filters. Usually if you just keep screwing around with it or keep adding water it'll start up.

yea i got it so the water is coming out but its brand new and still making the gargling noise after i messed aorund with it for hours and ive even left it be and it still makes noise.

i have another in my other tank and its way quieter. any ideas

Take the whole thing apart and put it all back together again very carefully...maybe you didn't get something right?

will give it a go, ill let you know how it goes

thanks for the help

Try adjusting the motor. Twirling the fan. That always makes a loud noise, when your fan is out of whack. I have a penguin filter and the fan get stuck all the time, making a sucky swishy noise. :(

check that the impeller is firmly seated. then with the power off, lift up the filter intake tube and firmly reseat it.

how do i adjust the motor?

took it all apart, put back together again same problem, impeller twirls, i used a round brush in and around the impeller to make sure there was no debris
could it be the impleeler is broken but im not sure how it would break

any other ideas
thanks guys
