hi guys,
right my problem is i got a lovely ropefish, however he comes out very rairly in the day time which is giving me problems in feeding him.
I have read he likes frozen bloodworm and shrimp and small fish etc. But if i put some bloodworm in all my other fish eat it in seconds.
He doesnt even come out to have a look at what the fuss is about. I have only fed him successfully once by inserting a live earthworm into his hiding spot which he seemed to enjoy. But i dont want to have to do this all the time and i want to see him come out more.

Any advice?

When you feed bloodworms, feed them at night after the lights have gone off. He will find the food.

i would do this but there is no point because the other fish are pigs, my blue acara and tiger barbs dont leave left overs :(

greedy piggy fish are oftem much more lazy at night times. i think rdd's quite right

have you tried it??

yeh i have tried it many times, but weneva i put food in they just always eat it all :( and leave none for the ropefish

You need to do it when there is no light. If there is enough light for you to see that they are eating it, then there's to much light. Another option is to do something similar to what the large aquariums (I'm speaking of places like Sea World, the Georgia Aquarium, etc.) do. Make a tube (could be just a long straw) long enough to reach the bottom. Pour some of the blood worms into it and some tank water behind it. You may have to lightly blow on it or force air down it some way to force it out the bottom into his hiding place. The large aquariums use that method to feed the bottom feeders in their tanks.
