This is a 2 headed Diamondback Terrapin siamese turtle. They have a total of 6 legs - 3 each. They learned to navigate well even with the anomaly. They walk and swim just fine. They eat well and are gaining weight. They will soon be getting a ct scan to study what organs they share. This gives a whole new meaning to: two heads are better than one.
I wish I owned this turtle so I could surely win Pet of the Month.

They are presently at Cape Wildlife Center in Barnstable MA where they are being carefully watched and cared for.

Conjoined twins are what they are called in humans. Human conjoined twins are a lot more of a handful though, i could never be next to my sister at all times in nature its a super interesting deformity, ive heard of this happening with animals like snakes too.

I can hear Larry and Ernie arguing now: "Ernie, I want to walk over to the feeding dish....and the other one says "not if I can help it, Larry, we're going back in the water."

Everytime I saw one of these turtle in the aquarium, they always have 2 heads, not sure why it’s so common for this species.

Surprisingly common in Nature, but relatively unheard of, because they rarely survive long.
Most vets around the world will probably have, for example, a two-headed calf, sheep, or pig, in a pickle jar, on a shelf somewhere.
Still thought-provoking, nevertheless.
