No Way! I Have Gbr Eggs,what Shall I Do Now?

hey all,my GBR's have got some eggs,and the fem is guarding them very well.

what can i do now?

ive never been in this position before.

the eggs are only a few hours laid!!

any help would be great. i did get a pm explaining things,but i deleted it by mistake

will they be ok in my tank.

i have 4 GBR's

2 gold rams
1 bolivian
10 xray tetra
3 panda cory
3 similis cory
3 sterbai cor

and a tiger plec

if not what should i do?

you could siphon them out or let the rams take care of them themselves. They will defend them

I would leave them be, the parents will defend them. You could move mother and eggs to a seperate tank if you want, but the stress of moving them may cause her to eat them.

What colour are the eggs?

no way!! as i went back the mother was eating them. she was chasing everyone off,but then eating them herself!!

they were laid in the gravel in a dug out hole.i managed to save say 20 or so,i have put them in my other tank,see what happens.

the eggs are some clearish coloured and some are more white,whys that?

is it normal for them to get eaten by the parent?

the cloudy ones are fertilized i believe!

they will for the first few times, then they will do a proper job as more egs are laid next time

If they remain white they are unfertile. If you have moved them, have you got an airstone under then to create the fanning that the parents would naturally do? If not, they will soon get fungus and you will have to remove them.

Its her first time, sometimes it can take many go's before they get it right.
