How long can a mystery snail go without food?

well they'll probably always be food in a tank by means of algae and rubbish at the bottom.. so.. yeh

Oh, this is because I just found my snail floating at the top of my tank dead...

Anyone have any ideas of why it died?

Uh, nevermind. He was just floating for the oxygen thing(I just read about it). He came back down an hour later and is moving again. I was scared.
