the male needs to removed and treated. clean water normally clears it up but also try myaxzin, that works brilliantly.

do you have a spare tank with a heater you can put him in?

Everything will heal once you get your water sorted. You have ammonia and nitrites and that's what causing the fish fins to rotten. You need to do huge regular water changes really. Those fins will rot in a tank with a problem, no matter what medication you put and I would not recommend putting medication in water full of ammonia and nitrites.

Done a 95-98% water change yesterday. Water's crystal clear now and the ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels are all at 0ppmbut going to take the male out soon and put him in a small tank on his own so I can treat him and do daily water changes

Sounds great!!
But the 0 reading for nitrAtes is suspicious. If tank is back on track with the nitrogen cycle, that value should have increased from yesterday.
If you take the fish out to treat, you are going to put him through another dangerous ammonia/nitrite levels if your quarantine tank is not cycled, and possibly kill him.
By the way, what are you treating for and what meds? It may not be sickness, but just ammonia burning. If the fins are just torn and have fallen off and there is no bacterial infection or fungus that you can see, then a water change everyday or every other day will heal it just fine without meds and without moving the fish and stressing it additionally.

You should be doing regular water changes in this tank anyway until you are sure ammonia/nitrite stay at 0, the rest of the fish will benefit from it too. Just don't go overboard washing with tap water :)

I've had the betta from day 1 pretty much which is about 2 months ago now and his fins was completely fine. He'd sometimes have a very small pin hole and it would heal within a day or 2 max and then 1 day last week I woke up and all his fins had begun to completely fray then within a few days got drastically worse. Also the tank I used to hold em in was filled with the same water that was in the tank but I've done a massive water change since then. Just checked the water then and there's no traces of ammonia, nitrite or nitrate. Also I'm using amquel+ and API stress coat.

Bettas are affected by high amount of aeration/water flow, so it may affect the fins and as a result infection can settle. But if you think ammonia can't rot the fins, you are wrong. And it happens all of a sudden.
It will eventually get worse if water is not improved. Let's hope he will recover now. What are you treating with?
