:::sigh:::: Me again

a few days in a row, at the 24 hour mark..my nitrites were 0 or almost 0. Last 2 days, they're 5.0 at the 24 hour mark. PH is good, Temp is steady at 88....any theories as to what happened with my Nbacs? This last part is taking foreverrrrrrrrrrrr

remind us, back when the Nbacs seemed to be processing down to zero in almost 24 hours, were you adding at the 2ppm per day level or the 4ppm per day level?

(on mine, both ammonia and nitrite are getting down to zero, but nitrites aren't quite making it within 12 hours, still at 0.25ppm at 12 hours)

Hi Lioness,

I wouldn't worry about your nitrite. In your last thread, 'Kinda Confused', you said that 2ppm of ammonia was processing in 12 hours and the subsequent nitrite was almost processing but not quite.

So, you started adding 4ppm of ammonia (which is what i would recommend).

So now, you are processing 4ppm of ammonia in 12 hrs but nitrite is climbing because the N-Bacs are still catching up. I assume that the nitrite has been climbing since you cranked ammonia up to 4ppm again? Remember the N-Bacs seem to be slower than the A-Bacs.

I think you will be cycled within a few days. Remember to keep an eye on your pH too!

Cheers :good:

yeah I can process even 4-5 ppm of ammonia in 12 hours

what confused me is that with adding 4-5 ppm ammonia, my nitrites were almost at 0 in 24 hours for several days...then all of a sudden they were back up to 5.0 at 24 hour mark. Now tonight they were at .50 in 12 hours....kinda all over the place.

few more days I hope ::sigh:::

Remember, its more normal for the Nitrite to be all over the place because the non-linear processing by the Abacs and other time delays just creates what would be seen as unpredictable peaks and valleys if you could see an amount-by-time graph... make sense?
